2025 Walk to Mordor Challenge
"Walk to Mordor Challenge" Year 5!
February 1 -March 31, 2025
In 2021, Fresno County Public Library began hosting a "Walk to Mordor" activity challenge inspired by the journey of the Fellowship J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, which encouraged people of all mobility types to move more by allowing them to earn commemorative badges for making it to five different Middle-earth milestones.
Whether you hope to reach specific fitness goals (or possibly burn off a few Second Breakfasts or Elevenses), fight some “personal demons” (anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, etc.), or simply share a virtual connection with others who have chosen to go on this journey, we invite you to join us on our quest and earn some fun rewards for your hard work.
Your ability to participate this year has expanded. We are excited for you! Here are the options available:
- Track your physical activity every day and convert that into miles
- Keep track of your journey on the app or we've created a printable log for you
- Goal: reach Mordor (500 miles) in two months
- Track all of the books of the Lord of The Rings Trilogy you read
- The Hobbit
- The Fellowship of the Ring
- The Two Towers
- The Return of the King
- Attend a branch program
- Submit photos of your Walking Challenge with the hashtag #FresnoWalksToMordor and #FresnoLibrary on the library's social media channels
However you participate, we are asking you to log progress at LibraryClub on Beanstack to earn rewards. If you are new to LibraryClub on Beanstack, please create an account.
A sneak peek at the Walk to Mordor Challenge will look like once you join.
Fresno County Public Library is offering these rewards during the challenge:
- Earn LibraryClub Badges
- Receive commemorative button for each leg of the journey completed

Any recommendations for free ways to actually track the activity, apps or otherwise?
ReplyDeleteMap My Walk App by Outside is one recommendation or most smart phones have a built in step tracker app on phone. Hope this helps..
